The Auditor General has released a report on the Department of Social Services’ activities relating to the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022.
The report stated that the department’s ‘effectiveness in implementing the National Plan is reduced by a lack of attention to implementation planning and performance measurement’. In addition, concerns were raised about the department’s inability to ‘demonstrate that the actions taken are prioritised based on available evidence or that they are collectively contributing to the outcomes of the National Plan’.
The Department of Social Services has agreed to all five audit recommendations, and commented that ‘the report’s insights will help strengthen the final development phase and subsequent implementation of the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan’.
