The Salvation Army Family Violence Crisis and Support Services provide specialist family violence support services for women and children ranging from prevention, early intervention to crisis response.
Services include the Northern Crisis Advocacy Response Service (NCARS), which is a free specialist family violence service that provides face-to-face outreach responses and support to women and children.
The NCARS workers can travel to meet women in a safe location including police stations, hospitals and emergency accommodation to provide crisis support.
Support includes:
- Risk assessment and safety planning
- Information about rights and options to help with decision making including obtaining Interventions Orders
- Advocacy and support liaising with police , courts, Centrelink
- Referrals to services including culturally specific support services , counselling , parenting, longer term case management , accommodation etc
- Emotional support
- Material aid assistance
- Crisis accommodation.
