Seniors Rights Victoria is surveying family violence workers to determine their training needs in relation to elder abuse. Their aim is to develop training that supports workers to integrate a practice approach that is inclusive of older people.
All participants who complete the 5 minute Elder Abuse Training Needs Survey will go in a draw to win one of five $100 gift vouchers.
Responses are sought by Tuesday 9 July 2019.
Elder abuse is a form of family violence that is common, but often overlooked. Whilst believed to be greatly under-reported, international studies indicate that one in 10 older people are abused in any one year. Although there are similar characteristics to other family violence situations, elder abuse has distinct differences, patterns of occurrence and assistance needs. Supporting older people who are experiencing abuse from a family member requires particular skills and knowledge.
