The Victorian Crime Statistics agency’s quarterly report, released last month, shows that family violence incidents in the northern metropolitan region have increased by 7 per cent, compared with the same time last year, to just over 11 thousand.
Family violence incidents across the state increased by 8 per cent to nearly 70 thousand in the 12 months to March 2015.
Recorded crime statistics are based on data extracted by Victoria Police.
