Event Details

The Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management is designed for practitioners who currently work in, or wish to work in men’s behaviour change (MBC) programs. In the course, you will develop specialist knowledge and skills for co-facilitating MBC groups and working alongside men who use family violence to support shifts towards transformative change. This course is experiential, embedded in the process of learning through the experience of doing. The course will explore frameworks and theories which support invitational, collaborative practice and foster deliberate self-reflection.

Key areas that are covered include:

  • Theoretical and practice frameworks that invite an intersectional analysis of family violence, entitlement thinking, hierarchy, accountability and change
  • Dialogue skills working alongside people who use family violence to support shifts towards transformative change
  • Group work theory and dynamics
  • Counter cultural co-facilitation
  • Anti-oppressive and invitational assessment skills
  • How our practices and interventions centre the experiences of those who have experienced violence and continuously challenge the culture of beliefs and systems which enable family violence

There are a number of assessment tasks involved as well as a required completion of a 20-week group work student placement.
