If you’re beginning your career in family violence or would like to refresh your skills and understanding, this one-day course is the ideal introduction. You will learn about the core elements of family violence practice based on the new family violence capability framework through group discussions, activities, educational videos, role plays and practice sessions.
The training will cover:
- Common beliefs about family violence
- The definition, impacts and prevalence of family violence
- Indicators of family violence
- Engaging effectively with service users
- Responding to disclosures
- Making a safety plan
- Providing effective referrals
- Identifying, assessing and managing family violence risk
- Looking at risk through an intersectional lens
