This introductory training session will cover an introduction to family violence, barriers and challenges to seeking support, referrals and limitations of ethno-specific organisations.

On completion of the training participants will have:

  • a foundational understanding of family violence that includes types of violence, statistics, causes, indicators and impacts, and barriers to victim-survivors seeking support
  • knowledge on how to support a victim-survivor (within the scope of their role), including safety planning, making effective referrals to support agencies, managing boundaries and self-care.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Staff and volunteers who work with ethno-specific organisations or groups and bicultural workers who are new to working with family violence.
