Event Details

This introductory training module is suited to representatives and volunteers from ethno-specific organisations and associations. It highlights basic understandings of family violence within cultural diverse communities by focusing on statistics, types, indicators and impacts of family violence on victim survivors from diverse cultural backgrounds. Participants understanding on how to be change agents and support the victim/survivor including referral pathways will be developed. This session also addresses effective ways of managing boundaries and self-care for bi-lingual staff and volunteers.
Topic areas include an introduction to Family Violence, barriers and challenges to seeking support, referral and limitation of Ethnospecific organisations.

Learning objectives:
• A basic understanding of family violence, including types, statistics, causes, impacts and indicators
• Knowledge about how to support a victim/survivor within the scope of their role as representatives from ethno-specific organizations; including
• Effective referrals to support agencies.
