Event Details

Children and young people who have experienced family violence have their own unique experiences, perspectives, risks and needs.

Whether workers are new to family violence, or to working with children and young people, this four-day accredited course will support them to understand these unique issues and experiences, and give them practical skills to help them engage with and respond appropriately to children and young people, and strengthen relationships between mothers and children.

The course will cover:

  • the impacts of family violence
  • trauma and the way it presents at different ages
  • attachment and the mother-child bond
  • risk assessment and safety planning
  • strengthening relationships between children and their mother or caregiver
  • creative engagement strategies and useful resources
  • advocating on behalf of children and young people.
