Event Details

This training will contribute to skill building competencies for practitioners, team leaders, coordinators and managers to authentically reflect meaningfully on their practice interventions. Collaborative group activities and discussions and pre reading material will provide a mixed blend of learning opportunities. The need to critically reflect on one’s own interactions and behaviour is particularly complex in direct work with those using family violence. Critical reflective practice is important in identifying ways of working that may unintentionally diminish the change journey by collusive practices.

This training will have a particular focus on patterns of grooming and the ways practitioners can be invited to collude in the client’s internal narrative or story about patterns and incidents of abuse/violence. Using self-assessment tools and break out group activities to explore the attributes and characteristics that support authentic critical reflective practice. Training content has been developed to allow participants to explore the impact of their values and attitudes on practice, along with working through areas of growth and development.
