Event Details
Audience: This training is aimed at family violence (FV) practitioners or professionals who already have a good or advanced level of knowledge of FV. It’s suited for those who are experienced in understanding, recognising and responding to disclosures.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the training, participants will have developed:
- an in-depth understanding of barriers and challenges for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds experiencing FV
- an understanding of how temporary visas can be used by perpetrators of violence to leverage power and control
- an understanding of Family Violence Provisions
- an understanding of the difference between forced and arranged marriage, and between dowry and dowry abuse
- an understanding of how human trafficking, slavery and servitude may intersect with family violence
- enhanced skills in risk assessment, safety planning and how to refer.
