Supporting your client with family violence through the family dispute resolution (FDR) process

This workshop is suitable for all workers. Beginning workers may find it useful to attend this course after they have completed the ‘Support your client through family law’ workshop at WLSV first.

Many support workers will have clients who are attending a FDR Service (mediation), either through Victoria Legal Aid or a Family Relationship Centre.

Participants will learn to:

• explain the process of FDR to clients, particularly when they are affected by family violence
• prepare clients for FDR
• develop strategies to support clients through FDR.
