This event is being hosted by VAADA, and facilitated by No To Violence (incorporating Men’s referral Services/MRS)

This two-day short course introduces the key principles and strategies for working safely with men who use family violence. It provides a detailed understanding of the dynamics of men’s family violence and builds practitioner skills in responding to the challenges and opportunities for working with men towards behaviour change.

The short course covers everything practitioners need to know to be able to identify, assess and work with men using family violence in a safe, respectful and effective way.

The training is ideal for practitioners in a range of settings including the community, family, education, health and business sectors who work with men using family violence.

The course will cover:

  • Introduction to NTV
  • The dynamics and complexities of men’s family violence
  • Risks to women and children in working with men
  • Risk assessment processes
  • Strategies for engaging men safely
  • Key principles for working with men who use family violence
  • Overview of men’s behaviour change programs
  • Individual counselling and casework with men using family violence
