The Office for Women DHHS are inviting comments on the Gender Equality Bill, which is being drafted by the state government. Comments can be made via Engage Victoria or organisations can hold their own consultation and make a submission for consideration by the government.
- The Gender Equality Bill will make sure the Victorian public sector acts as a role model for gender equality.
- It will ensure that Victorian Government departments, public sector entities (like hospitals and TAFEs), and local governments plan, promote, set targets for – and report on – gender equality.
- It also seeks to enshrine a Ministerial Council on Women’s Equality in legislation.
