The Inquiry into Homelessness travelled to Whittlesea, one of Victoria’s fastest growing local government areas for a public hearing. The committee heard from organisations which support people who are homeless or are facing homelessness in outer metropolitan and rural areas.
Services cited homelessness as a result of family violence as a key issue in Whittlesea. A lack of affordable and diverse housing, and the need for more wrap-around support services were recurrent themes. Some transcripts of the hearings have already been uploaded onto the committee’s website.
