Formerly known as WISHIN, Juno works with women and non-binary people in the northern metropolitan region who are experiencing homelessness and family violence. In November 2020, the organisation changed its name to Juno. Juno was a Roman goddess connected with all aspects of the lives of women. Juno, the service, now acts as the original Juno did: by giving council, advice, guidance, and protection.
Juno is exploring new and creative ways to empower women. In 2020, they launched a pilot of the EMPower program, coaching women to identify barriers to employment and achieve financial independence. They will also run On Our Path Together, a peer-education program that builds the capacity of older women at risk of homelessness to access support early in order to avert future housing crises.
