As part of the 2016 ‘Housing Blitz’ initiative, Haven; Home, Safe (HHS) has received funding from DHHS for the ‘Family Violence Rapid Assistance Fund’, to increase the supply of housing for women and children who have been made homeless as a result of family violence.
HHS has been allocated nine Head Lease properties in Darebin, Whittlesea and Banyule with funding to provide discounted rent for the tenancy, for a period of up to twelve months.
The twelve-month sub-lease period enables the tenant to develop the financial capacity to meet full rental costs, find employment or training and establish a successful rental period. The expectation is that the tenant will be able to take over the lease at the end of the twelve month period (with the approval of the landlord).
Services are encouraged to put forward applicants who are “rent ready” to access this opportunity.

Applications close on 9 December 2016.
