DHHS has released the new Family Violence Framework for Emergency Management framework.
The Framework focuses on actions the Emergency Management sector can take in order to address the intersection of family violence and emergencies. This includes family violence training of emergency sector staff; being aware of local family violence services and providing family violence service provider information during emergencies and during the recovery period; and working in collaboration with Regional Family Violence Integration Committees.
The Framework also points to opportunities for the emergency management sector to work with the family violence sector to embed emergency management considerations in family violence policy and practice.
The Gender and Disaster Pod, DV Vic, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and NIFVS contributed to the development of framework.
