The Victorian State Budget 2016-17, released on Wednesday 27 April, begins to allocate the $572 million in funding that the Government announced following the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV) handing down its final report. The three years of funding includes measures for housing and crisis refuges, more counselors, more prevention programs and more support for children who are victims of family violence.
The Government also announced $5 million in additional funding on Wednesday 4 May, on top of the State Budget allocations. The package includes funding for Aboriginal services, Safe Steps, refuges and men’s behaviour change providers. The funding is part of the $10 million response to increased demand announced ahead of the RCFV report.
