A key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Family Violence was the development of a 10 year industry plan. The Family Violence Workforce Census is a critical step in this process. The Census will assist the Victorian Government to develop a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by any worker who responds in some way to family violence. NIFVS encourages all workers in the northern metropolitan region to complete the Census by the closing date: 5 May 2017.
Workforce development is a current priority of the NIFVS Regional Integration Committee. A committee working group is currently exploring how to work collectively to support and retain family violence staff. This work builds on learnings from the Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Workforce Resilience Forum in November 2016, which provided participants with information about the impact of trauma as well as workforce resilience solutions. This year the NIFVS Coordination team plans to provide Identifying Family Violence: Responding to Women training for over 800 workers in the region.
