EOI Callout: NIFVS ‘Leading Practice’ Community of Practice
We are excited to announce that Northern Integrated Family Violence Services (NIFVS) will deliver Leading Practice, a Community of Practice (CoP) for advanced practitioners working within the Northern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne (NMR) throughout 2026.
Leading Practice will bring together leaders working across diverse practice settings to connect, share knowledge and resources, engage in peer learning, and explore complex family violence presentations. The CoP will provide a supportive and reflective space to deepen practice, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities to strengthen responses to complexity in family violence work.
Who can join?
Leading Practice is open to Senior Practitioners, Team Leaders and other experienced practitioners working in the NMR.
Experience may be within a specialist family violence setting or in other roles that intersect with family violence practice, such as homelessness, alcohol and other drugs, LGBTIQA+ specialist services, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and mental health.
This CoP builds on learnings from our Advanced MARAM Collaborative Practice training. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete this training prior to or alongside their involvement in the CoP. To register, visit our NIFVS Advanced MARAM Collaborative Practice Training.
What’s involved?
The CoP will be delivered, quarterly throughout 2026 and will commence in April.
The first session will focus on setting priorities for the year, identifying key themes, and developing a group agreement. Areas we are likely to focus on include:
- Multi-agency collaboration
- Responding to complex, high-risk family violence presentations
- Best practice supervision
- Exploring challenges and enablers to effective information sharing
- Misidentification, resistance, and use of force
- Using an intersectional, and trauma-and-violence-informed lens in practice
Participants are expected to attend at least three sessions and contribute to an anonymous evaluation of the series in order to support us to improve future Communities of Practice and other workforce development initiatives.
