Welcome to the new NIFVS Peer Support Workers

We are pleased to welcome to the NIFVS team Micah and Theodore, Peer Support Workers for the Walking Beside Project.

The Walking Beside Project is a pilot initiative led by the Safer Families Centre at the University of Melbourne with Women’s Health In the North, GenWest, Berry Street, participating General Practitioners and the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network.

The project is testing an early intervention approach within primary health care (general practice settings) to support the health, safety and wellbeing of eligible women and non-binary people who have experienced family violence.

Peer Support Workers play a central role to the project, by providing support to participants, offering lived experience-informed connection, emotional support, service navigation and participant-led goal setting.

You can learn more about the Walking Beside Project here.
