Young Women & Family Violence: Understanding barriers and honouring strength

On 15 November 2018, NIFVS and the Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) partnered in running a forum for 90 workers to  explore the needs of young women who experience intimate partner violence.

Key note speaker Bianca Johnston (YSAS) discussed the social context of young women’s experience and presented practice frameworks that uphold young women’s voices. Guest speakers and a panel of regional specialists emphasised the importance of respecting young women’s voices and agency.
