What is family violence?

Family violence is the patterned use of violent, abusive, threatening, coercive or controlling behaviour by someone against a family member(s), or someone with whom they have, or have had, an intimate relationship.

Helping a family member or friend

You may be worried that a friend or family member is experiencing abuse in their relationship.

Do you use violence?

Men can choose to behave in a way that ensures their family’s safety. Help is available for men who want to stop using violence in their intimate relationships.
